AUSTRALIAN religious leaders have come together to call for unity and intelligent debate on a proposed law that would criminalise blasphemy.
Islamic Association of Australia president Muhammad Wahid said he supported the idea while condemning acts of what he called "Islamophobia".
"If we have a law in some countries forbidding Holocaust denial, why shouldn't we have a law preventing mocking a religion and disturbing the peace of the whole world?" he said.
