The second aspect of Islam missed by most Americans is the remarkable number of beliefs that Muslims hold in common with Christians and Jews. Of course, all three religions claim Abraham as the father of their faiths. But I suspect that most Americans would be surprised to learn that much of the story of Jesus' life is told in the Quran and that he is held in a very special place of respect and esteem by most Muslims.
