The case of a teenage girl placed on an airport watch list to stop her parents taking her to Lebanon for an unwanted arranged wedding is a rare example of forced marriage in Australia, experts believe.

The 16-year-old girl was praised by Federal Court magistrate Joe Harman for her courage to challenge her parents' authority and the Lebanese Islamic culture which she was brought up in.
