Malaysia under the Iron Burka - "no babi"?

The Malaysian malaise deepens, with "The Star" hauled up for running stories on infidel-friendly restaurants during the unholy month of "ramadan":


[KUALA LUMPUR: The Home Ministry has called up the Group Chief Editor of The Star for running buka puasa articles together with stories on non-halal restaurants.

Its deputy secretary-general (Security) Datuk Abdul Rahim Mohamad Radzi said the pictures and also promotion of non-halal restaurants were carried in the paper's Dining Out supplement, with “Ramadan delights” as its cover headline.]

[He said The Star's recent articles on Ramadan fare which ran together with stories on non-halal restaurants was unacceptable, especially during the holy month.]

[Even though The Star had apologised , Perkasa says its protest note is a reminder to the paper not to offend Muslims.]

[PETALING JAYA: Malay rightwing group Perkasa today sent a protest note to The Star as a reminder not to offend the sensitivities of the Muslims.

“We sent the memorandum as a reminder so that they do not offend the Muslims,” said Perkasa’s youth wing chief, Irwan Fahmi Ideris who led a delegation of eight people to hand over the memorandum.

“They should not have published recipes for pork dishes in their ‘Ramadan delights’ pullout,” added Irwan who acknowledged that the daily has issued an apology.]
