[EVERY Australian school managed by the nation's peak Muslim body will be subjected to a federal government probe into their leasing agreements.
The announcement by federal School Education Minister Peter Garrett yesterday came after The Australian revealed this week that Sydney's Malek Fahd Islamic school last year paid $5.2 million in fees to the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils, $3.1m of which was current and backdated "management fees".
It later emerged that two other Islamic schools that rented property in Brisbane and Perth had not filed financial statements since 2008 and in that year were also subject to huge rent increases. Brisbane Islamic College paid $349,000 in 2008 but just $24,000 in 2007.]
